I believe that as long as the animals are being treated properly, it is all right to keep animals in the circus. If animals are to perform in a circus, the they need to be provided with the proper care and provisions. This means that they need to have a clean and appropriate shelter and the proper food supplies. Also, they need to be treated humanely. If they are going to be trained, then the trainers need to train the animals without hurting them. If the circus company treats the animals with care, then I believe that the animals should perform in the circus. The circus is a source of entertainment; it draws more than ten million people a year to its shows across the country. Many people enjoy the circus and they expect to see animals. I personally don't see anything wrong with the circus as long as the animals aren't being mistreated. However, in the article Lions, Tigers, How are you? there were some accusations against the circus for a variety of violations of the Animal Welfare Act. This law is meant to protect animals in captivity from mistreatment. Although the circus company refuses to admit any wrongdoing, they still agreed to pay a fine of several thousand dollars. I believe that if the circus continues to violate animals' rights, then the animals should not be allowed to perform. Ultimately, the animals have to be treated fairly if they are going to be held in captivity. If they are going to be treated inhumanely, then they should not participate in the circus.

I believe that it is alright for animals to be a part of the circus, as long as they are being treated right, with proper living space and food. However, I cannot say that I agree with the animal right's activists because I myself did not inspect the circus animals and their conditions. So I do not know exactly what the conditions were really like. I know that some animal rights activists can be a little crazy and say untrue things about the circus animals, so I'll just base it off of what I believe, and not what either the activists said or the circus people said. So here is what I believe: I believe that I the animals get plenty of exercise, is well cared for, and treated kindly and are not abused, then I don't see any reason not to have them in the circus, except for the few mishaps here and their with the animal's behavior. But they are still wild animals so some outbursts are not understandable, expected, and not surprising at all, even though some circus people say that it is completely unexpected. It doesn't matter how well you think you know a wild animal. They have instincts, and they are born to hunt. So as long as animals are treated properly, and all the circus people take all the precautions they can in order to prevent any unfortunate mishap, I see no reason for animals not to be in the circus, as long as all is well.

I believe that it is okay for animals to be in the circus, only if they get treated properly. If they are being mistreated then they don't need to be in the circus. I do not agree with the animal rights activists because I wasn't there myself to see how conditions were. If it is true that animals at the circus were being mistreated and kept in bad conditions, then there should have been photo evidence. In that case, i can not agree with the animal rights activists. In my opinion, I feel that if the animal is getting treated properly and is kept in good living conditions, then it is fine for them to be in the circus. Once they get mistreated then it should just all end. I can see from people who don't want them there at all because they think that the animals should just be in the wild. I do agree with that, but people go to the circus for entertainment and the animals. I can also see that they feel even if the animal is being treated right and taken care of, that it is still considered animal abuse because wild animals like them do not belong in the circus. Yes that is true, but for me, I feel that it is fine to have them in the circus, especially for entertainment reasons too. I also feel like if the animal enjoys doing what it does, then that is also ok. Although that may be unrealistic for an animal to enjoy being a part of the circus, it is just a theory. In conclusion, as long as the wild animals feel safe and are kept in good conditions and are being treated right, then it is alright for them to be in the circus.

As long as the animals are not being abused and have proper living conditions its fine for animals to be in the circus. I will be on the animal activists side, because many animals in the circus are abused. Ringling Brothers claim that they don't abuse their animals, which is untrue many undercover investigators have gone and video taped many trainers abusing the animals. The video's are very disturbing to watch with the trainers hitting the elephant's multiple times and telling others to hit them "until they scream". I personally wouldn't go to a circus that had animals in their show, because I wouldn't want to be there promoting their wrong doing. The Ringling Bros paid the fine, probably because they know if they said they had not mistreated their animals people would just play the video's showing the mistreatment. They didn't say they did any wrong doing because if they did it would hurt their business. This article was published in 2011 which was two years ago, hopefully in those two years Ringling Bros has improved with the living conditions and the mistreatment of its animals.

I think that its okay to have the animals in the circus as long they're being treated correctly. The animal rights activist argues that the animals in The Ringling Brothers circus are being treated inhumanely. In 2011, the Ringling Brothers received a $270,000 fine for numerous violations of the animal welfare act. This law is meant to protect animals in captivity from mistreatment. The circus did agree to pay the large fine however they do deny mistreating their animals. This was the largest fine the Ringling Brothers have ever received. In my opinion if the animals are being treated correctly i think they should stay in the circus and keep doing shows. If animals were in fact treated badly, then the animal itself would most in likely create a negative attitude towards the circus men. On the other hand if animals are not being treated correctly, their should be a big punishment. Some say that the animals face a bigger threat in the wild than here performing in the circus. For a while the Ringling Brothers took the lions away from the show, but the people didn't like that so they brought the lions back. Many people attend these types of events and shows. The people do expect animals to perform. This has been a tradition and we cant just take the animals out. Things wouldn't be the same or as fun and entertaining. If the circus feeds them correctly, cares for them, then i do think the animals are fine there in Circuses.

In the article lions, tigers, how are you? it debates whether animals being used during circus acts are being mistreated or not. Many argue that they are exposed to bad people and live in inhumane places. However, in my opinion I think that the animals are not treated bad. I mean yes maybe they are being taken away from their natural habitat but they would've faced equal or maybe worse conditions in the wild. In the wild animals face larger predators, diseases, and even starvation. By being taken in my care takers, such as the circus people, they ensure that the animals have plenty to eat and are well taken care of for their shows.who knows if those same animals would've been able to survive in the wild. In my opinion i also think that animals are able to create a bond with humans. If a human treats an animal badly, then that animal will not respect the human and will not follow orders of that specific person. If they are treated badly more than likely if they are left alone with the person they will attack them. In contrast, during circus acts animals seem to have respect for the circus people. They follow their orders and obey. I honestly think that many people think that animals are treated badly only due to the fact that they are taken away from the wild, but they also need to know that those animals get to run around for a while too. They also get chances to reproduce with others of the same species. I think that these animals might not live in an atmosphere just like the wild but they still are treated well and have plenty to eat and don't have to worry about predators and other problems they might face in the wild.

I think I would have to take the side of the circus on this topic. I am pretty sure that the circus has by-laws and procedures that they have to follow in order to keep the animals around. So it is not like the circus is hurting them or treating them bad. There might be an incident once in a while, but the owners of the circus are usually quick on fixing the issue. There are also laws to help protect the animals. It is not like the circus just takes them from their natural habitat. The way that i kind of see it, is that the circus is somewhat of a mini zoo that travels. The animal keepers of the circus are probably well trained and take good care of the animals. I personally think that it is just the way you see things. Sometimes we let our emotions get the best of us, and we assume things without knowing the entire story, and I think that this is one of those moments. There is also probably a certain type of relationship between the animals and trainers. During the show it seems like the animals and the trainers enjoy what they do. The trainers must have a lot of respect for the animals. It seems like the atmosphere of the whole circus is fun and nice, so I am sure that the circus is treating their animals perfectly fine. If the circus ever did take the animals away, I am sure that most of the people would be sad, and not as many people would go watch the circus.
